Puntos de Vista: Militantes

El centro recurre a la periferia en base a sus fantasías exóticas, pero las subperiferias -término que acuñamos para Militantes- están incluso desplazadas de los típicos romanticismos contemporáneos. Nuestra base de operaciones se ubica en Manuel Alberti, conurbano bonaerense. Plantarse en el conurbano es parte de nuestro proyecto de subvertir los valores: la llegada del público porteño hasta nuestra casa, pone patas para arriba las reglas del juego. Significa una buena oportunidad para atacar la comodidad que se contenta con acceder a toda alter producción a través de un clic. No obstante, este año decidimos estar en arteBA. ¿Por qué?
Siendo uno de los eventos de arte contemporáneo más importantes a nivel nacional en el año, se Presentan muchas condiciones atípicas e interesantes. La visión de diferentes tipos de públicos, tanto especializados como no, el contacto con galerías y proyectos de otras partes del país y del mundo y la progresiva profesionalización de nuestro trabajo, son todas razones por las que nos interesa estar en arteBA. No creemos en las soluciones escapistas que ignoran los procesos materiales de circulación del capital artístico, y estamos decididos a que las miradas hagan foco sobre nuestro trabajo. Un trabajo sostenido con amor, autogestión y tenacidad.
Creemos que la naturaleza actual del arte no se perfila en la utilidad, si no en la necesidad, y esa necesidad la saciamos, desde Militantes, con compromiso crítico tanto en el campo artístico como en nuestra vida de todos los días. Queremos reactivar el poder de la creación artística, constantemente banalizada pero no aún neutralizada. La famosa politización del arte que arremete contra la estetización de la política se logra desde un espacio, un pensamiento, un accionar y finalmente, obras. De espíritu subalterno, cuestionador, experimental y bárbaro, somos Militantes del arte.

The center resorts to the periphery on the grounds of its exotic fantasies, but the subperipheries – a term we have coined for Militantes – are removed even from the typical contemporary romanticisms. Our base of operations is located in Manuel Alberti, in the “greater Buenos Aires” area. Placing ourselves there is a part of our plan to subvert values: the arrival of the central Buenos Aires public, the porteño public, to our house, stands the rules on their head. It signifies a fine opportunity for attacking the comfort with which one contentedly accesses all alternative production through a click of the button. Be that as it may, we’ve decided to be at arteBA this year. Why?
Since, at a national level, it is one of the most important events of the year, many atypical and interesting conditions occur in it. The vision of different sorts of publics, both specialized and not specialized, the contact with galleries and projects from other parts of the country and the world, and the progressive professionalizing of our work, are all reasons that make us interested in being at arteBA. We don’t believe in the escapist solutions that overlook the material processes of the circulation of artistic capital, and we are determined that people get a good look at our work. A work we sustain with love, self-management, and tenacity.
We believe that the current nature of art is not shaped by utility but rather by necessity, and that necessity is one that we satisfy, from Militantes, with critical commitment both in the artistic field as well as in our life as we live it every day. We want to reactivate the power of artistic creation, constantly made banal yet still not neutralized. The famous politicization of art that takes on the esthetization of politics is achieved from a space, a thought, a way of acting and finally, from works. From a subaltern spirit, questioning, experimental, barbarous, we are Militants of art.
